About us

Through our sustainable practices and alternative solutions, we’ve helped over 10,000 families say goodbye to their loved ones.

The Largest independent funeral consultant in the North East

Grown from humble beginnings, we’re proud to be the largest independent funeral consultant in the North East, dedicated to helping families understand all aspects of funeral planning, from identifying who you need to contact to what you need to organise for the day.

We understand that the death of a loved one can be incredibly hard to process and making decisions on how to lay your loved one to rest isn’t something you consider on a daily basis. Nor is it something you can ever do again. So, you may feel an immense pressure to get it right. That’s why we’re here to take some of the pressure off. Allowing you the chance to begin the grieving process without an endless list of funeral arrangements.

Your Trusted Partner

Our role at Go As You Please is to provide an honest and fair solution to families across the nation. We challenge outdated funeral stereotypes by exploring different ways of doing things to better reflect the individuality of your loved one. It’s our commitment to innovation that puts you and your loved one at the heart. And keeps all aspects of the funeral process firmly within your control.

Traditional funerals aren’t for everyone, but too often they are presented to families as ‘the done thing’, as well the ‘only option’. We know how cold and compromising it can feel when you’re only presented with one way of “doing things”. It was within that moment some 25 years ago that our MD Carl knew he needed to change the direction of the funeral industry, to better support families. It was here where the vision for Go As You Please was born.

Keeping it Real

We’re strong advocates in families and local communities uniting again to play pivotal roles in funerals because the outcome is always far more meaningful. Through our sustainable practices and alternative solutions, we’ve helped over 10,000 families to date and we’re proud to say we’re making a real difference.

Contrary to what you see on social media, it isn’t always about being quirky here at GAYP! For us it’s about finding the right way to honour the passing of your loved ones, no matter how left field that might be!

Meet The Team

At Go As You Please we don’t employ ‘Funeral Directors’, we employ ‘nice people’.

With branches throughout the North East of England and Scotland, we’re proud to have built a team who are dedicated to helping families through the funeral experience. We’re only as good as our last client interaction so we always strive to be the best for your family as much as the next!

Here’s some of the team who will be supporting you:

“My Mother died unexpectedly when I was young so planning a funeral wasn’t something I had ever thought about doing. Without the support and guidance that I truly needed, the funeral didn’t reflect my Mother at all, and I was left disappointed knowing I couldn’t do it again. It was in this moment of realisation that I knew I needed to prevent this happening for other families and I founded Go As You Please the very next day”.
