At what must be described as the worst time of my life, i was faced with an unsurmountable task! The funeral of my soulmate, my rock, the man I had known since i was 16! I had attended our friends funeral for his son and was impressed. Peter had always wished to be cremated and even though we are Roman Catholic, we had decided to go along the Direct Cremation route with a family celebration of life. We contacted 'Go As You Please' to enquire about direct cremations after ringing another very well advertised national company. From picking up the call the staff were amazing, they were kind, compassionate, and friendly. My questions were answered thoroughly and nothing was a 'silly question'. The same person who answered my call came to collect my loved one from our family home with a colleague, again they managed the situation beautifully, telling us as much as we needed to know without overwhelming us. Our loved one was treated with respect and dignity - I know this as their bed was made up beautifully after they left. It is definitely the little things that make a difference. As we were not organising a funeral we know we would not have had as much communication, but we were kept up to date every step of the way, nothing was too much trouble. My mum had paid for her funeral some years ago, she planned her music and her poem. This made such an emotional time less stressful. From the first point of contact Malissa was absolutely amazing, professional & went above and beyond in her role. My son passed away in Qatar, she tracked his flight and informed myself as soon as he landed in Manchester, then on his journey from Manchester to Consett. The family were kept updated with all arrangements. Malissa gave the family the idea of his favourite football team coffin, Newcastle United. Malissa showed empathy and love, we felt she acted on Mark's funeral as if he was a member of her own family. Sophie, his sister recorded a song for Mark which Malissa played while getting him dressed. Malissa telephoned nearly every day to see how the family were coping with our devastating loss. Outstanding service! People are still talking about Mark's funeral.

We would like to extent our gratitude for the support during the arranging of the ceremony & throughout. Malissa did an amazing job and went above and beyond with every request and helped keep us smiling during a difficult time.

Martin's funeral was exactly as I had hoped it would be. A simple meadow burial, with a lovely wicker coffin and 'in season' flowers. The site at Meadomsley was lovely. Heather was excellent as the celebrant, giving us lots of time to talk and remember Martin. If what you want is a grand funeral, this is not for you, but for humanists like my family this was perfect. I'm not sure but I think it was also carbon neutral!

We were impressed from beginning to end. Starting with Malissa, who helped us every step of the way with the transportation of our son Tony, which was so difficult for the family. Malissa dealt with everything so very tenderly and was a great support, with clear instructions all the way. Sam was brilliant, warm and friendly, putting the family at ease. Building on our plans, we loved Sam's ideas - the tags for the coffin were so touching and inclusive. At Seven Penny Meadow, the procession following the coffin with the music was very special. Thanks Sam for the last minute changes. Heather was warm and friendly, put us at ease, we loved her use of words, they were so poetic and described Tony to a 't'. At the graveside her words were comforting and appreciated. We loved that we could use her words in the printed Order of Service. The only improvement point was the volume of Heather's mic, some people, that could not get into the chapel area had difficulty in hearing and of course could not see the short video. Your help and attention to detail made this difficult and sad day very special!

My mum had a funeral plan in place, having chosen her own coffin, type of service including choice of music to be played, and all the little details. When she passed away quietly she was taken from the carehome to the Go As You Please chapel of rest, with no fuss or worry for us. My mum had a cousin who was a lay-preacher and as was her wish, he took the service. We asked for a single bunch of lilies on the coffin, and were suitably surprised by the magnificent floral display on the day, lilies as requested, but so much more than just a bunch! The hearse and the family car arrived on time, gleaming in the watery winter sunshine, and we arrived at the crematorium on time. Everything went very smoothly, thanks to the funeral plan, and the care of Go As You Please.

Very professional service. Celebrant listened and spoke of John as if he knew him in fact; one of my friends asked if he had in fact known John. If I had to find anything negative to say it would be that I would have liked cards to be placed on the flowers that the family had written messages on. When a family member passed away, we were given cards the day before the funeral which were attached to the flowers.

My Mam had a strong belief that the funeral services of other family members had attracted significant numbers of freeloading hypocrites so declined to have one of her own. I had no problem with her decision as I feel the same way and will not be having one either. Go As You Please made this service-less cremation process hassle free and respectful.

A very sad day made bearable by the grace, care and compassion shown by your staff. At every point of Joseph’s journey, we were kept informed and up to date with proceedings in a very timely manner. Advice was given gently and compassionately with regards to seeing Joe; due to circumstances, we were unable to view him but family were still allowed to visit and say their private goodbyes which was greatly appreciated. The celebrant Colin was amazing, he really listened to the family and Joes’ essence came through in his words. He did an excellent job. Thank you from myself, my two sons Michael and Lewis and his family and friends for looking after him so well.

Go As You Please could not have been any better, Malissa at Cramlington and Barbara at Consett are very caring and understanding people. They helped me a lot and I can’t thank them enough. I could not go to the funeral but Malissa kept me informed what was happening. All round they were fantastic. Thank you.

The professionalism of all involved, from the collection of our beloved Mum from her home on the day of her passing, to the delivery of her humanist service, was as a family all Mum wished for (exceptional, compassionate and empathetic). First class service without question!

The team involved in the organisation of this Funeral have been amazing. We rang many times with queries and were never made to feel that we were causing them any problems. All the staff were kind, compassionate and approachable. Heather (Humanist) who led our service was so obliging, she said we could call her at any time. The eulogy she put together for our Uncle was absolutely perfect. It seemed as if she knew him. We only wish the funeral directors in our area (Buckinghamshire) were as good as you all. Can we give special thanks to Heather and Malissa.

I was very happy with service we received from Go As You Please. They listened to what we wanted, made suggestions but, there was no pressure from them. I felt that they were respectful and wanted to “get it right for us”. The Minister was excellent and the eulogy was just right and reflected the person my Mum was. I think she would have liked her send off. The white wicker coffin looked beautiful covered in spring flowers. Thank you for your attention to detail, for listening to us and the service you provided.

We contacted another Funeral Directors when making our decision who to choose and from the first telephone contact onwards the service was exceptional with ‘Go As You Please’. We felt very well looked after and closely accompanied through each step of the process. The way options and details were explained put us very much at ease in selecting exactly what our Mum would have wanted. Although the overall cost was cheaper than if we had chosen one of the more ‘high street’ names, there was absolutely no compromise in quality, service and experience. The actual funeral flew by in an instant and although very emotional, we remember it as being a perfect moment and couldn’t imagine anyway it could have been improved upon. We want to thank the whole team for their great care and service.

Everyone from the staff in Wallsend to the staff in Cramlington were absolutely amazing from start to finish. I felt so supported and wouldn’t have got through this without them. The humanist Susan was amazing too. Thank you so much.

My requirements were unusual because of the personality of my sister. Go As You Please provided a beautiful pink coffin with a lovely picture of my sister on the lid and front. As requested, the Bearers dressed up as Alien Lords and there was a lovely procession to the chapel. David (Funeral Director) dressed as an Alien Lord with his top hat and it just made a lovely and unforgettable entry. David’s reading of the eulogy was excellent, not too serious and reflecting on the humour and personality that was my sister. The music I picked was played exactly as requested. Everything went smoothly and all my friends and family commented positively on it. Also, the price was competitive and everything was very professional.

A very professional and dedicated team assisted us in every aspect of the funeral. All staff were well mannered and knowledgeable with all our needs. Would definitely recommend your excellent service and compassionate staff to all our friends and families.
