Alternative Burials
Here at Go As You Please, we believe individuals should be buried anyway, and anywhere they want - law permitting! Although we do traditional cemetery burials we feel people shouldn't be confined to this.
Here is a list of ideas to start you thinking, but if you have any suggestions, please let us know and we'll do everything in our power to make your last wish come true.
Discuss your funeral arrangements while you are alive so your relatives know what you want when you die.
Woodland Burials - allows the deceased to be surrounded by nature and is many people's choice for a final resting place. Woodland burial sites offer the relatives a place to go and walk, remembering their loved ones in peaceful, tranquil surroundings. In woodland burials, headstones are replaced with small commemorative plaques, or the planting of a native tree on the site.
Sea Burials - allows the person to return to nature through the ocean, and continue the cycle of life. This type of funeral is especially popular with the fishing communities where the deceased spent all their life out at sea.
Burials at Home - once permission has been granted by the local authority there is nothing to stop your loved one being buried in the family home. Home burials are often the most intimate and loving way of lying to rest the deceased.
Humanist Burials - many people assume that all funerals must be religious, but this is not the case. A humanist burial is a non-religious ceremony that celebrates the life of the person. The humanist will visit your home, talk through what kind of service you want and conduct a meaningful ceremony that respects the individual's wishes.
DIY Services and Burials - although most funerals are organised by a third party, there is no reason you can't do it yourself. We would be more than happy to advise you on the necessary steps, and provide a coffin.
Space Burials - although not yet here in the UK, blasting ashes from a cremation into space has been happening in the US for a number of years. At over £500 per gram, the practice is still too expensive for most, but we are monitoring the situation over the next few years for any change. As an alternative, Go As You Please can arrange for a star to be named after your loved one, for a lasting heavenly memory of their life on this earth.
Please contact us for if you have any specific requiremetns or ideas you would like to incorporate.
